Fashion students highlight craftsmanship at Copenhagen Fashion Week

Tuula Wallace, one of the students, explained:

"The theme for our booth is “Artisanal”. Each of us has delved deeply into different techniques, from Fair Isle knitting (a traditional knitting technique) to layering plastic and latex casting. It is a tribute to craftsmanship and experimentation, demonstrating a practical approach to modern fashion."

In the showcase, the students are presenting their mid-term collections, where each student have chosen to explore a specific technique. Based on this, they have created three unique looks.

What does it mean to be part of the programme for Copenhagen Fashion Week?

"It means a lot to us. It is an opportunity for us to share the results of our creative process and technical discoveries. We feel that we have an important message, especially in these critical times for the fashion industry. By being part of the official programme, we can connect with industry professionals, communicate our message, and redefine what fashion means from our perspective."

"It is also an opportunity to contribute to the larger conversation within fashion by exploring new ways of thinking and designing. Beyond the symbolic significance, it has been impactful to be part of Copenhagen Fashion Week. Last year, we had a fashion show in Stockholm for our knitwear collections and had to manage everything ourselves. Although we are still deeply involved in every aspect of our showcase, we have received invaluable support from the Copenhagen Fashion Week community in terms of exposure and invitations."

The students present their showcase at the Copenhagen Fashion Week on 30-31 January.
