The project explores the potential of using unconventional materials - especially second-hand metal hardware - to inform and assemble new garment forms using bespoke tailoring practices. Garments of raw, almost punk expression are constructed without a sewing machine into tailored silhouettes for the womenswear workwear wardrobe. The project was carried out with attention to sustainable practices, through the use of zero-waste pattern cutting based on using rectangular pattern pieces, and moreover by sourcing metal hardware second-hand and textiles only from dead stock.
