Recognition of prior learning for admission
What is recognizing prior learning?
If you have previous studies or professional experience, you may be eligible.
To qualify for RPL, you must be able to prove your knowledge with formal documentation, for example, a certificate from an employer. The document must validate what skills you have acquired or demonstrated in your professional role.
You apply by uploading your application form and the documents that you will claim to your account on University Admissions under “My pages”. You must upload the documents by the application deadline for the course or program, key dates
For applicants resident in Sweden
If you do not have formal documents to show that you have the knowledge equivalent to a high-school course (eg. English 6), you can, in most cases, take a test in the subject to get a formal grade. Contact “Komvux” (adult education) in your municipality.
Selection
Becoming qualified through RPL often means that one lacks merit rating to compete with. For increased chances of being accepted, you can sometimes take the Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test (högskoleprovet) and sometimes upload documentation from work experience, at least halftime for at least five years. You need to find out what applies to the education applied for.
