DiXiT ER 1: Digital Scholarly Editing and Memory Institutions

DiXiT ER 1: Digital Scholarly Editing and Memory Institutions

Specifically, the University of Borås was one partner in this larger, European network, and hosted two of the network’s fellowships: one Phd fellowship, and one postdoctoral (Experienced Researcher) fellowship. This project, titled ‘Digital Scholarly Editions and Memory Institutions’ constitutes the latter of the two.

The study of this Experienced Researcher project aims to critically explore the range of measures and methods for establishing trustworthiness and authenticity of digital reproductions in libraries and archives, particularly by looking at cases where levels and measures are negotiated between such memory institutions and external agents hired to perform parts of the process.

The project uses the following tasks and methodologies:
- comparative and evaluative analyses of digitization projects
- observation studies
- interviews
- desktop-based applications or experiments with technologies and tools relevant to the issue of establishing trustworthiness and authenticity of digital reproductions

It includes periods of work trips for research performed at the following institutions:
- The National Library of Sweden (Stockholm)
- The National Library of Denmark (Copenhagen)
- The National Library of the Netherlands (The Hague)
- The National Library of Belgium (Brussels)
