She emphasises synergies between science, technology, and art

Ever since she became involved in the European network ArcInTexETN, textile artist Eglė Ganda Bogdanienė has played an important role in the university's internationalisation in the field of textile arts, not least in the borderland between art and design. As a new honorary doctorate in Textiles and fashion at the University of Borås, she will give a lecture on 4 May on the importance of values for creativity.

We must move away from the mentality of seeing clothes as disposable and we must increase the skills within the textile industry – that is what the recently appointed honorary doctor Anne Ludvigson, CEO of Ludvigson Invest as well as Board Chair of TEKO, the Swedish trade and employers’ association for companies working in the textile and fashion industry, believes. On 5 May, she will give an open lecture on climate-friendly textiles.

Ski poles, lightweight battery boxes for electric cars, and recycled textiles as reinforcement are the focus of new research projects

Could polymer composites be the solution to a lighter and more environmentally friendly battery box for electric cars, or replace aluminium and carbon fibre in ski poles? Can textile waste be used as reinforcement in composites? Three exciting research projects are currently underway at the University of Borås to investigate these very issues.
