Vacation

The number of vacation days depends on the employee's age. The earning year and the vacation year coincide and are the same as the calendar year. This means that paid vacation can be taken before it is earned, provided that the employee works until the end of the calendar year. If employment begins later in the year, the number of vacation days is reduced. Certain leaves can also reduce the number of vacation days.

Vacation for a full calendar year is granted as follows:

• Up to and including 29 years: 28 days
• From 30 years: 31 days
• From 40 years: 35 days

Employees who are entitled to more than 20 paid vacation days per year can save one or more of the excess days for a later year, but a maximum of 30 saved days in total. If employment begins after September 1, the vacation days for the current year can be saved.

Employees on part-time leave for personal reasons or parental leave without taking parental allowance from Försäkringskassan should not interrupt their leave when taking vacation. The leave should run parallel with the vacation. A part-time employee has the same number of vacation days as a full-time employee, but the days are compensated according to the working hours the employee works. The same applies to part-time employees.

Teachers working part-time are assumed to work every day as working hours vary over time. This means that if a part-time teacher is to be off for a week, vacation must be applied for the entire week.

Employees who want to take parental leave in connection with the main vacation period must notify this in connection with the organization's vacation planning. Parents on parental leave with parental allowance from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan) have full vacation rights until the child is 18 months old. Parental leave with parental allowance cannot be taken simultaneously with vacation.

A decision on granted vacation is binding. The manager cannot revoke granted vacation without a valid reason, and the employee cannot withdraw granted vacation. Changes to the vacation schedule can only be made if something unforeseen happens and after consultation with the manager. In the event of sick leave or care of children reported during ongoing vacation, the vacation days are adjusted by HR.

According to the University of Borås teaching hours agreement, the entire annual vacation for teachers is scheduled schematically starting the Monday after Midsummer. Vacation for teachers is normally expected to be scheduled during student holidays or other non-teaching periods.

Teachers can apply for a different annual vacation in Primula no later than April 30. If no application is made, the standard vacation is scheduled by HR.

It is not possible to register vacation in Primula during the period May 1 – August 31.
