You can access the employee website just as before. Click on “Staff” on hb.se/en or click directly on the home button in your browser. The personal start page is the default browser for all staff at the university who have a computer with IT’s standard installation. By logging in, you will have access to all content on the employee website.
If you are logged in to the employee website, your bookmarks will still work. If you are not logged in, log in with your usual credentials and you will be taken directly to the bookmarked webpage.
If your colleague is logged in to the employee website, they will be able to access the link you sent. Please note, however, that a person who is not an employee of the university will not be able to log in to the employee website.
If the link goes to a webpage that is on the employee website, an external person will not be able to access it. A UB login is required to log in to the employee website.
Yes, you will be able to log in and access the employee website on your mobile phone. Use your usual login credentials.
No, you will no longer be able to use Google or any other external search engine to find information on the employee website. You can use the website's own search function.
What we are doing now is locking the employee website for external access due to security reasons; it will not be a classic intranet. An intranet often has more features and more personalised functions.
Transforming the employee website into a more traditional intranet would require more work, which is not currently on the agenda.
Material currently on G: should not be moved to the locked staff website. The employee website is not an archive and should not be used for document management. There are better tools for working with documents, such as Teams and OneDrive. It is also important to bear in mind that what is published on the employee website should be aimed at employees of the university.
Webpages that mirror content from locked pages on the employee website to open pages elsewhere on the university website will be displayed to non-logged-in visitors in the open part of the website.
Remember to adapt the information according to its target audience. Most of the time it is not appropriate to mirror such information, as the information should be different for external visitors and employees.
If you put the document under "For this page" under the employee website, the document will only be available to those who are logged in.
Documents will also be locked if they are put in a folder under Global/UB employee in the structure.
You can move your documents yourself to the "For this page" or to the structure under Global/UB employee to ensure that they are locked.
No, there are currently no such plans.
