Study pace

For a doctoral studentship, up to 20% can consist of departmental duties (usually teaching). This means that you are employed as a doctoral student 100%, but that your study rate can vary between 80 - 100%.

For doctoral students who are employed at the University of Borås, it is most common to have an 80% study rate, i.e. it is estimated to take two and a half years for the licentiate degree and five years for the doctoral degree.

Feel free to discuss the pace of study with your supervisor and the Director of Studies for your area. Remember that you as a doctoral student are not allowed to work overtime!

On an annual basis, the pace of study must also be reported to Statistics Sweden; read more under the section "Activity and funding."
