In the educational programmes where an examiner has been appointed, they have the overall responsibility for your doctoral education and must ensure that it meets the quality requirements regarding research assignments and other components. The examiner must annually approve your individual study plan and be involved in the follow-up of your studies. Prior to the presentation of the licentiate or doctoral thesis, a preliminary review of the material must be made. Procedures for final examination differ among the various doctoral programmes.

The principal supervisor and examiner must not be the same person. The examiner must be affiliated with the University of Borås and hold at least one docent certificate.
