New learning platform at the university

The University of Borås has used the learning platform PING PONG for many years, but now the work to switch to Canvas has begun. A learning platform can be seen as a digital classroom — a place for students and teachers to communicate.

"This is a system that affects an enormous number of people at the university, both students and employees. We are pleased to be able to start work on introducing a new, more user-friendly learning platform," says Hanna Markusson, Director of the Academic Affairs Office, who is leading the project.

First courses in Canvas

A number of test pilots, in the form of teachers and administrators, have been engaged at the university. Some of these teachers, at the start of the spring term, will start using Canvas in their courses.

“This means that the first students will now have the opportunity to use Canvas. Information for the students involved, who are already studying at the university, will be provided by their teachers. New students will receive information via welcome information sent out,” says Hanna Markusson.

Students will access guides for how Canvas works once they are logged into the learning platform. The possibilities for introductory sessions are being reviewed.

From January 2022, all courses will use Canvas. However, PING PONG will remain in place for the entire spring term of 2022 so that those students who are in their last term will use that platform for the remainder of their studies.
